Smart technology for sustainable production through selv-development

Project time: 2017 – 2018

Budget: 715 000 kr

Funding: SIP Produktion2030

Purpose and goal

The overall purpose is to prevent work injuries and improve health as well as production quality. This is done through an automated system for risk assessment, building on smart clothes. The specific aim is to develop a system for feedback through vibrations, voice or visual displays that facilitates the operator´s work of identifying improvement opportunities.

Results and expected effects

It is expected that the operator is given opportunities to improve their work technique and the quality of the work performed, based on the feedback from the smart clothes. Another expectation is that the operators learn which work tasks that are unsuitable, and get inspired to change these themselves, or that they take an initiative together with their managers in order to take actions to improve aspects that are outside the control of the operators.

Approach and implementation

The project develops and tests systems for feedback to the operators, where vibratory feedback is compared to voice and visual feedback. The tests are performed in an educational workshop where operators are working with assembly and materials handling. Equipment and solutions are improved iteratively based on the results. The emphasis is on creating feedback that support learning and an active approach and engagement in improvement work.
