Vice head of Production Systems at Chalmers University of Technology. Performs research on how digitalization can aid analyze and improve production systems regarding sustainability aspects.
Björn Johansson is a researcher at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg. His research focuses on mapping, analyzing and producing sustainable production systems using digital technologies. Discrete event simulation, 3D scanning, scheduling, balancing, and raising people’s sustainability awareness are areas that are part of Björn’s work. The teaching part is varied and includes, for example, supervision of degree projects for the Bachelor’s degree, the Masters and the Master’s degree programs M (Machine) and Z (Automation). Course activities in general within production systems, sustainability and digitization. Tutoring about ten PhD students and some guest students from Erasmus programmes on a regular basis is also work at hand.
Björn is also heavily involved in international research as the current president of SCS (www.scs.org) , organizing sessions at AAAS (www.aaas.org) , WSC (www.wintersim.org) endeavors and ASME-CIE (www.asme.org) tracks.
Björn's research focuses on how digital tools can be used to promote sustainable development and specifically sustainable production systems.
