User-Supplier Integration in production equipment design (EQUIP)

Project time: 2013 – 2016

Budget: 6 120 000

The project resulted in a supportive tool for collaboration projects with the purpose of developing robust production equipment with high production efficiency in combination with low operational and maintenance costs.

The aim of the project was to develop a mutual work model for the user and the supplier of production equipment in development projects. Narrowing market windows dictate tough demands on efficient development of production equipment that can guarantee high performance from the start of production, whilst keeping operational and maintenance costs low. In order to increase the possibilities of successfully developing this type of innovative production equipment, a well-functioning collaboration between the user and the supplier is critical. The purpose of the project was therefore to facilitate this type of collaboration project in order to contribute to strengthened competitive capabilities and heightened profitability for Swedish industries.
The result of the project was a supportive tool in the form of a mutual work model for collaboration projects between the user and the supplier of production equipment. The project was driven by Mälardalen University (MDH) with funding from The Knowledge Foundation. It ran during 2013-2016 and case studies were carried out in collaboration with the
companies AstraZeneca, Goodtech Solutions, Siemens Business Systems, Volvo CE and Volvo GTO.
