Ph.D. Student

The research of Anan Ashrabi Ananno will provide a software solution that calculates near optimal packaging configurations for robotic palletization. The solution includes a 3D-BPP optimization algorithm that will reduce the number of pallets required to deliver products by increasing the fill-rate of items while considering numerous practical constraints: customers’ palletizing preferences, pallet load, parcel fragility, etc.

The research of Anan Ashrabi Ananno focuses on discrete optimization, industrial automation techniques, industrial engineering, multidisciplinary design optimization, design automation, and data analysis. Currently, he is developing an industrial solution for the multi-container 3D bin packing problem.

Forskning

In 2023 the global e-commerce sales worldwide has surpassed 6.3 trillion USD, with that the number of parcels shipped around the world has multiplied drastically. Having to deliver nearly 170 billion parcels in 2022, various businesses and transportation companies are now facing overwhelming supply chain management and distribution challenges. It´s a real challenge and very important to be able to pack parcels and items with different sizes and weights efficiently without waste of space. The research of Anan Ashrabi Ananno will provide a software solution that calculates near optimal packaging configurations.

The solution includes a 3D-BPP optimization algorithm that will reduce the number of pallets required to deliver products by increasing the fill-rate of items while considering numerous practical constraints: customers’ palletizing preferences, pallet load, parcel fragility, etc. It´s not only efficient and saves money for the company, it also takes away very boring and repetitive work from personal and they can be used for much more advanced and more stimulating tasks.
