FFI Sustainable Production

Strategic Vehicle Research and Innovation (FFI) is a partnership between the state and the vehicle industry to together finance research, innovation and development activities with a focus on the fields of climate and environment, traffic safety and competitive force.

The announcements for the program touches five program areas: Sustainable Production, Electronics, Software and Communication, Traffic Safety and Automised Vehicles, Effective and Connected Transports and Energy and Environment. The latter administrated by Energimyndigheten and the other four by Vinnova.

The sub-program Sustainable Production comprises research- and development activities for production of vehicles, drivelines and vehicle components. The sub-program is described in a roadmap and is driven, mainly, by the overall challenge: The ability to produce new products, components and materials.

The following areas are included:

• New products with high life cycle efficiency: The ability to handle new products and materials in the production system
• Competitiveness: Cost-efficient new production systems in a global perspective
• Environment: Neutral environment production and cycle for rest products and energy
• Lead-time: Shorter lead-time through the whole of the supply chain in development and production
• Flexibility: Enough flexible production systems for  requested components
