Maintenance development based on needs-driven customer requirements
Marcus Bengtsson received his PhD in Innovation and Design at Mälardalen University (MDH) in 2007. His research area is industrial maintenance. Marcus was employed by Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) in 2008 and has since worked part time at MDH. At the university Marcus has been involved in teaching both undergraduate and graduate students, in recent years, though, Marcus has mostly been involved in maintenance-related research projects and as a supervisor for PhD students. At Volvo CE Marcus works with maintenance management development at the site in Eskilstuna and as a specialist in maintenance, assisting the maintenance development at the other sites within Volvo CE.
Marcus performs his research within maintenance of manufacturing sites, mostly within the automotive industry. His areas of interest can be found within: working to reduce maintenance-related waste, to combine advanced technical development with development of basic maintenance, to develop data analytics for decision-making etc.
The project resulted in a supportive tool for collaboration projects with the purpose of developing robust production equipment with high production efficiency in combination with low operational and maintenance costs.
