Athanasios Papageorgiou received his PhD from Linköping University in 2019, and he is currently employed as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the department of Management and Engineering of Linköping University. Athanasios has been part of several research projects which have been funded by SAAB Aeronautics, and his main interests lie on the conceptual design of both manned aircraft as well as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).
Athanasios’ primary research focus is on the field of Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO), and more specifically, on the improvement of the design space exploration capabilities by efficiently integrating supplementary modeling features. To this end, Athanasios has worked with the development of analysis models for capturing the performance of aircraft and their sub-systems, as well as simulation models for evaluating the collaboration effects in a System-Of-Systems (SoS) context.
