Anders Arkell

PhD Chemical Engineering

Anders Arkell is an expert in membrane filtration in general and different processes for the separation of kraft lignin from black liquor in particular. He has been working with a wide range of feedstocks from biomass to separate different components aiming for different products.

Research

Anders Arkell began his research carrier at Lund University with research in the area of separation processes for the separation of biomass components and the production of renewable products in a resource and energy efficient way. After finishing his PhD work and been working for some time as a researcher, Anders was recruited as the CTO of a small start-up company active in the area of production of renewable transportation fuels from residues from the forest industry. As the CTO of SunCarbon Anders built up and an R&D team and were responsible for the construction of 5 pilot plants, all located at a Swedish pulp and paper mill. In 2021, Anders left this position at SunCarbon for a position as a researcher at RISE – Research Institutes of Sweden. As a researcher at RISE, Anders is mainly working with separation, purification and modification of kraft lignin, but also with other separation processes for biorefineries.
