Research in sustainable manufacturing and on increasing the use of advanced materials with the support of research infrastructure.
Boel Wadman wants to contribute to innovations in sustainable manufacturing by combining ideas in projects with motivated actors in different industries.
As a coordinator of the Swedish Manufacturing R&D clusters, she wants to further the strategic cooperation on sustainable production with the objective to increase the competitiveness of manufacturing companies in Sweden.
Boel is focus leader of manufacturing in RISE business area of Mobility, and coordinates RISE activities in EIT Manufacturing and participates in EFFRA. Active at Chalmers Department IMS with the role of chairman of the Department Council and as guest lecturer in the course Metal Forming and Joining.
Boel received her PhD in materials analysis at Chalmers and is currently a specialist in sheet metal forming and tool development. In the innovation system, she works primarily in the implementation step, where new or changing customer requirements involve the development of new materials, which in turn need new manufacturing methods.
Through close cooperation with companies, often on site, knowledge can be developed and shared within a project consortium, leading to new knowledge and often also new customer relationships for companies participating in the projects.
In a previous Vinnmer scholarship, Boel worked as a visiting researcher in stainless steel forming tools, in Denmark at Grundfos, in Sweden at Outokumpu and in the USA at Ohio State University, three exciting years that increased her interest in international projects.
